ANA announces inaugural flight of C-3PO Star Wars jet

Japan’s All Nippon Airways (ANA) has announced the schedule of the inaugural flight of its newest Star Wars™ themed aircraft, C-3PO™ ANA JET.

The Boeing (NYSE:BA) 777-200 featuring the iconic and much-loved character C-3PO, will make its inaugural flight on March 21 from Tokyo’s Haneda Airport (HND) to Kagoshima Airport (KOJ) in Kyushu in southwestern Japan. The aircraft is then scheduled to fly various Japanese domestic routes.

The C-3PO livery is part of the continuing ANA Star Wars Project which was kicked off in Sept. 2015 with the debut of the R2-D2 Dreamliner at the Boeing plant at Paine Field (PAE) in Everett, Wash. See the video of that debut here.

More information about the Star Wars project, including a look at the new plane and its livery, is available here.

C-3PO cup design
In addition to the bold yellow paint scheme on the outside of the C-3PO ANA JET, on the inside, passengers will experience the world of Star Wars with specially-designed C-3PO paper cups and headrest covers and cabin attendants will wear C-3PO aprons as part of the five-year promotional contract with Disney for the Star Wars brand.

The C-3PO ANA JET will join ANA’s fleet of existing planes that have Star Wars characters as livery. The R2-D2™ ANA JET and BB-8™ ANA JET are both flying on international routes, while the new C-3PO ANA JET is assigned to Japan domestic routes. ANA is the first and only airline in the world to fly the special livery aircraft featuring Star Wars characters on the exterior of the actual aircraft.
