Hilton Munich Airport: Mountain Hub Restaurant

I have been very impressed recently by the quality of hotels’ on-site restaurants. Our recent trip to Europe introduced us to two that are worth visiting, even if you're not staying at the hotel: MoNa at the Hilton Munich City hotel and Mountain Hub at Munich Airport.

After an eight-hour train trip, we decided to indulge to commemorate our last night in Europe. With more than enough mileage under our belts for one day, we stayed in our hotel at the Munich Flughafen, and dined at the Mountain Hub off the hotel's expansive lobby.

Mountain Hub actually has two separate venues: one called Social Dining, which is open later and has more understated fare, and Mountain Hub Gourmet, a Michelin star-rated venue which offers four- to six-course menus from €150 to €185 per person. We chose Social Dining.

Our server Sharansh was quick to bring us menus, water and a bread basket, and to take our drink orders. He recommended the house Riesling over a more expensive offering but offered us tastes of both. We concurred with his recommendation, then moved to the main courses.

After our trip from Budapest, it was later than usual for dinner so we kept it relatively light. My wife ordered salmon trout with barley salad and cauliflower puree while I opted for a Mountain Hub Alps Snack Board, which was essentially a charcuterie board.

Both dishes were delightful. Her salmon was done perfectly medium-rare with the skin side up to give it an extra layer of crispiness. My charcuterie board would have easily served a party of four, so there was plenty for both of us.

Generous charcuterie board.

Another glass of Riesling and we were set for the evening. All in all, a four-star experience that we would happily repeat, and highly recommend if you're anywhere in the vicinity.
