Upmarket Belize hotel offers anniversary bargains

The San Ignacio Resort Hotel in San Ignacio, Belize, is celebrating its 40th anniversary as a family owned property by offering guests the opportunity to experience its newest luxury accommodations at a 30 percent discount through the end of June.

Opened in September 1976 by local businessman Escandar Bedran, the hotel has been accorded numerous honors over the years, including being chosen as the venue for hosting Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II in February 1994.

The intimate 24-room deluxe hotel showcases a contemporary and Mediterranean style lobby with marble columns and floors along with an exotic hardwood staircase. The resort has recently undergone a major remodeling which included a new air-conditioned Baroque themed Lobby Bar, a formal dining room, and an extended outdoor seating area.

It has earned honors from the Belize Tourism Board, which gave the hotel the Hospitality Award 2015 and named it the Hotel of the Year in 2012. It is considered a three-and-a-half star hotel and has earned a rating of four and a half of a possible five points from the readers of TripAdvisor.

During the anniversary special the hotel is offering deep discounts on its two recently introduced luxury suites. The Royal Suite, which sleeps up to four people, can be booked for $462 per night through the end of April, and for $416 per night for stays in May and June.

The Master Suite, which sleeps up to three people, can be booked through April for a rate of $392 per night and for $353 for stays during May and June. Rates are valid for minimum two-night stays and do not include applicable taxes and fees.

  1. Absolutely beautiful place in a beautiful town! Don't miss the Iguana Project there, and Xunantinich (my favorite Mayan ruins) are nearby! Love this place!
