New 5-star resort opens on Seychelles to broad acclaim

The H Resort Beau Vallon Beach opened its shores to guests in September, making it the newest 5-star hotel on Seychelles largest island. In that brief time, the property has already earned the honor of being named the Number 1 hotel in the Beau Vallon area of the island of Mahe.

The property, which is affiliated with the 5-star The H Dubai, has earned the distinction of being named the best of the seven hotels in the Beau Vallon Beach area by more than 30 guests who have enjoyed the resort’s hospitality since its opening and shared their experiences on TripAdvisor. The resort features direct access to Beau Vallon Beach and offers guests a chic and relaxed experience, combining Seychellois heritage with modern luxury comforts.

“What makes The H Resort unique is that it provides a diversity of gracefully crafted accommodations that simultaneously reflect the authentic expressions of Seychellois heritage and offer modern and luxurious comforts and services,” a spokesperson for the property told TheTravelPro in an email. “These accommodations offer luxury that resides in the details, an oasis of tranquility, and are known as the masters of elegance and space.”

Those authentic expressions of the islands’ heritage extend to the resort’s Seychellois-inspired dining experiences. Guests can choose from seven international restaurants including the main restaurant Vasco’s, named after Portuguese explorer Vasco de Gama; 1502, the lobby lounge named for the year de Gama set foot on the Seychelles; Seyshima, a Japanese teppanyaki restaurant; Eden, a beachside sanctuary that offers fresh seafood and assorted cuts from the barbecue; the poolside bar Ripples; and the resort’s signature restaurant TÊTE-À-TÊTE, which provides guests with the opportunity to create tailor-made dining experiences prepared and served on the beach. Finally, a branch of the famous Trader Vic’s will be opening soon.

The resort also includes the luxuriously designed Sesel Spa, which offers signature treatments that combine Western and Eastern techniques implemented by expert therapists, ”Who take a holistic approach to wellness as to ensure careful nourishment of body, mind, and soul alike,” according to the property’s website.

A broad range of activities is available including game fishing, salt-water fly-fishing and scuba diving in the Indian Ocean. The resort also offers an array of what it calls “water play” where guests have a chance to swim with dolphins, “[A]n inquisitive turtle or another member from the diverse marine life” while kayaking, paddle boarding, scuba diving, fishing or indulging in other aquatic activities.

A banner on the hotel’s website says accommodations at this luxurious hotel begin at €450 (US$512 at current exchange rates), though I found a rate as low as €405 (US$461 at current exchange rates) on the resort’s website for a Junior Suite King Room using a hypothetical stay of Nov. 21 through 28. Deeper discounts may also be available through sites including Expedia.com, which noted prices “as low as” US$371 for my mythical stay.

The size of the Junior King Suite Room, stated at 55 square meters or nearly 600 square feet, is approximately double the size of a typical larger room at many luxury hotels in North America. That fact alone likely provides an excellent indication of the level of luxury guests can expect at the H Resort Beau Vallon Beach.

Getting there will mean a fair bit of time spent in the air. Whether traveling from the West or East Coast of the U.S., travel times will be at least 24 hours or longer – perhaps quite a bit longer – depending on flight pairs and layover times.

Most of the flight pairs (or flight trios) TheTravelPro identified include flights on highly rated Emirates or Etihad Airways, and many of the flights to Seychelles International Airport (SEZ) connect through Dubai (DXB) or Abu Dhabi (AUH). Travelers may want to break up their trip by arranging for a layover in the United Arab Emirates to make what would otherwise be an extremely lengthy journey more manageable.
