For the next week, Alaska Airlines is offering bargain fares to mark its new nonstop flights from John Wayne Airport (SNA) in Orange County, California to Los Cabos (SJD) and Puerto Vallarta, Mexico (PVR).
Alaska is offering introductory one-way fares of $144 between SNA and SJD and $164 one-way fares between SNA and PVR. Tickets must be purchased by April 6 and travel completed by Dec. 11, 2015.
The new flights will give Orange County residents a more convenient departure point than Los Angeles (LAX) or San Diego (SAN), from which Alaska currently serves the two sunshine destinations in Mexico, airline officials said in a statement announcing the fare sale.
Pending approval from La Dirección General de Aeronáutica Civil (DGAC), Mexico’s aviation authority, flights to Los Cabos will begin October 8, departing SNA at 10:10 a.m. on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays, arriving at SJD at 1:25 p.m. Return flights will depart SJD at 2:25 p.m. and arrive in Orange County at 3:45 p.m.
Flights to Puerto Vallarta will begin October 9 and operate on Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays. Departing flights will leave SNA at 10:00 a.m. and arrive at PVR at 2:55 p.m. Return flights will leave at 3:55 p.m. and arrive in Orange County at 4:55 p.m. All times are local and will fluctuate with daylight saving time.
Alaska will use with fuel-efficient, next generation Boeing 737 aircraft on the routes. The aircraft will feature Alaska's new in-flight experience, Alaska Beyond Entertainment, which offers customers free entertainment on their own devices including video shorts from partners such as National Geographic and Vevo. Passengers also have the option of purchasing movies and TV shows.
In-flight food service, tagged Alaska Beyond Delicious, will include food and beverages
sourced with items from well-known Pacific Northwest brands.
