Bankruptcy judge approves American/US Airways merger settlement

A U.S. Bankruptcy Court judge in Manhattan on Nov. 27 approved the deal reached with federal regulators by American Airlines parent AMR Corp. (NYSE:AMR) and US Airways Group (NYSE:LCC), paving the way for the merger to move forward with its $17.2 billion merger and create the world’s biggest airline.

On Nov. 12, the Justice Department agreed to drop its antitrust challenge if the carriers gave up some airport slots. Read more here.
