American Airlines launches Main Cabin Extra seating

As promised earlier this year, American Airlines is unveiling a new product that provides extra legroom for those seated in the main cabin.

Dubbed "Main Cabin Extra," the seats provide a number of extra benefits: four to six inches of additional legroom, Group 1 boarding (which helps ensure that there will be carry-on space available), and seats near the front of the plane for faster boarding and disembarking.

Access to these seats is complimentary for AAdvantage® Executive Platinum, AAdvantage® Platinum, oneworld® Emerald and Sapphire, and customers who have purchased a full-fare main cabin ticket. Other passengers can purchase the additional legroom for between $8 and $118 per flight.

Main Cabin Extra seats are currently available on select 767-300, 757 and 777-300ER aircraft, and additional aircraft types will be made available throughout 2013. Travelers can look for Main Cabin Extra when selecting their seats on AA.com or can also use airport self-service machines.
