Upmarket Normandy resort to upgrade in '17

An upmarket property in Normandy, France that opened its doors in Sept. 2015 has proven so well-received that it is planning an expansion during 2017.

Grande Suite sleeping area
Located just a few kilometers from Honfleur and Deauville and 1.5 hours from Paris, Le Domaine d’Ablon offers guests accommodations that include what proprietors call “idyllic and cultural breaks in the heart of the Normandy countryside … an intimate world between land and sea, where [guests] are free to discover a vibrant landscape and a unique natural heritage.”

Now, because of its success during its first full year of operation, the owners are planning an expansion.

"2016 was an excellent first year for the Domaine d'Ablon," owners Véronique and Christophe DeLaune told TheTravelPro in an email. "Strengthened by this fact, and by the high levels of satisfaction as expressed by all our guests, we are taking our adventures further [with] the construction of new suites and cottages, all with the same style and attention to detail as those already launched in the first phase of this ambitious project."

Grande Suite bath
At present, the property offers luxurious villas designed to create a subtle atmosphere for the feeling of a family home with muted luxury, "In perfect harmony with the style and traditions of Normandy,” according to the property. All rooms have luxury finishes. Baths are stocked with robes, high-end amenities from Bulgari, and equipped with one of my favorite luxuries when traveling in Europe: heated towel racks.

The property offers a two-bedroom, 140-square meter luxury villa "La Petite Chaumière." Complete with its own private garden, the large suite is €750 per night. A 50-square meter "small suite" and an 80-square meter "large suite" are also available, for €400 and €500 per night, respectively.

Villas are surrounded by more than 12 acres of parkland and gardens, including an herb garden and a grove of famous Normandy apples.

One of the many on-site gardens
Le Domaine d’Ablon offers the upmarket services one would expect from a luxury hotel, including room service, porters, personalized concierge service and a personal chef. The property also offers a wide range of activities ranging from simply walking and exploring to courses in cooking or painting, or tours of locations that symbolize Normandy.

The property offers accommodations to singles and couples as well as families and groups of friends “for a weekend or a longer stay in Normandy.” More details are available on the resort’s web site, and a virtual tour of the property is available by visiting the portfolio of photographs here.
