Due to the expected blizzard conditions, airlines have cancelled all flights into Philadelphia International Airport (PHL) for Saturday, Jan. 23.
The blizzard is expected to dump "excessive snow from Washington, D.C., to Philadelphia and New York City," with some areas bracing for between one and three feet of snow according to AccuWeather.com, which forecasts, "An all-out blizzard ... from northern Virginia to southwestern Connecticut. Periodic whiteout conditions will occur farther west from south-central Pennsylvania to part of western North Carolina."
Delays and cancellations from the adverse weather will likely affect flights across the various airlines' networks, possibly affecting flights that don't go anywhere near the areas affected by the storm. Be sure to check with your airline if you are flying anywhere this weekend.
A similar storm, dubbed "Snowmageddon," struck the Washington, D.C. area along with a wide swath of the Eastern Seaboard in 2010, bringing similar travel disruptions, power outages and other inconveniences.
