The upmarket Los Cabos resort Las Ventanas Al Paraiso, a Rosewood property that was damaged by Hurricane Odile in mid-September 2014, is nearing completion of the necessary repairs and will reopen June 4.
An unabashed fan of the Rosewood Hotel Georgia in Vancouver, B.C., I was pleased to learn that, according to the company, its property in Los Cabos suffered mostly cosmetic rather than structural damage from the hurricane, which reached its peak as a Category 4 storm.
“Our team has been working diligently to restore the property to the stunning Mexican retreat our guests have known and cherished for over 17 years,” a spokesperson for Rosewood Hotels & Resorts told TheTravelPro in an email, noting that, “The resort looks exactly the same as it did before the hurricane.”
The company also took the opportunity to make some improvements to the resort’s infrastructure.
“When guests return to Las Ventanas they’ll notice subtle, but impactful, enhancements like a stronger wireless network as well as all brand new state-of-the-art fitness and gym equipment,” the company noted.
The resort will also offer a new spa treatment at The Spa at Las Ventanas, which will be our new Signature Treatment. Each spa therapist has dedicated 100 hours of training for the new treatment, which will offer an innovative therapeutic approach to massage, the company said.
While the company would not disclose the cost of the repairs, it did note that all of the resort’s associates had been retained with full salaries throughout the entire closure, “[W]hich allowed the team to focus on additional training to further enhance the unmatched level of service and guest experience.”
To mark the reopening, Rosewood Hotels and Resorts is offering guests who stay three nights a fourth night free, through December 17. As of this writing, rates for the night of the June 4 reopening and the three nights that follow range from US$806 per night for the Garden View King Junior Suite to $6,000 per night for the two-bedroom Beachfront Signature Villa.
