American Airlines giving away five luxury trips for two

How far away could you be in 24 hours? American Airlines is offering adventuresome travelers the opportunity to find out through a contest offering five winners travel packages including First Class airfare and luxury accommodations at destinations that can be reached in less than a day from the their home airports.

The details of the “24 Hours From Now” contest arrived in my inbox May 1 in an intriguingly worded communiqué:
“You probably know where you'll be 24 hours from now. But where could you be?” the e-mail started out.

“With oneworld, the most awarded airline alliance, the possibilities are endless. You can easily reach top business and leisure destinations like Tokyo, London, Sydney, Hong Kong, Buenos Aires and more. And, you'll enjoy key benefits such as global recognition of your elite status and earning and redeeming miles on all oneworld® airlines.”

St. Basil's Cathedral
American Airlines (NYSE:AAL) said it is hosting the contest in celebration of US Airways, TAM Airlines and SriLankan airlines joining the oneworld alliance.

Winning packages include two First-Class airline tickets, a seven‑night stay at any hotel within the Hilton portfolio, and a luxury point‑and‑shoot Hasselblad Stellar camera.

“Now that would be an epic tomorrow,” the e-mail concluded.

Using San Francisco International (SFO) as my point of departure -- the closest airport offered in connection within the context of this promotion – I could in theory be in Asunción, Paraguay (ASU) with stops in Dallas (DFW) and Buenos Aires (EZE); Melbourne, Australia (MEL) via Los Angeles (LAX); or Moscow, Russia (SVO) via New York (JFK) and Helsinki, Finland (HEL).

Sydney Opera House
Travel often includes segments on American’s oneworld® partner airlines including, in the case of my proffered trips, TAM, Qantas, and Finnair.

I went immediately to the contest website and registered to win. If you’re not an AAdvantage Miles member, you can join on the same web page. Perhaps we’ll visit Sydney or Hong Kong together.

Entries must be received by June 14. Bon voyage!
